What does that mean? #### TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH Our church is more than handmade brick, wood, and stained glass. It’s the faith of the people who founded Mount Zion church in 1840 and who rebuilt on this site after destruction by Civil War, fire, and storm. It’s also the courage to stand together for Christ in every era. preached and taught to everyone, and I knew the background of Sam’s teaching was very scriptural.”  Proclaiming the grace and truth of Jesus Christ through teaching his word, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer, equipping us to do God’s work. Together, we want to reflect the teachings of God’s word in our world by the Lord’s grace, and to share Christ’s message of hope with everyone. Click below to see more about what we believe. Sam applies his unique combination of study and experiences to offer vibrant Biblical preaching and teaching on the Kingdom of Almighty God and today’s world. He was first called to ministry after 23 years in the business world. In 1997, he graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA, with a Master of Divinity. Since then, he has served Episcopal congregations in Winchester, TN, Hendersonville, TN, and Winter Park, FL. In June of 2022, he was called as Trinity’s pastor. In addition to pastoral ministry, in 2007, Sam was called by the [International Christian Embassy](https://www.icej.org/) and [Yad Vashem,](https://www.yadvashem.org/) the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, to be the first director of Christian Friends of Yad Vashem. He shares a deep appreciation for the Jewish heritage of the Christian faith, along with a love for the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. For 36 years, Sam was married to the late Marianne Herbert Clarke, whose Herbert and Wilson ancestors helped start Trinity Methodist Church. Between them, Sam and Marianne have 5 children and 13 grandchildren. Music is literally in Russell’s DNA. Today, he believes that the Lord has called him to our church to help people to worship the Lord through music. Music is literally in Russell’s DNA. His grandfather led the Naval Academy Vagabond Orchestra for 47 years; his great-aunt was an occasional concert pianist for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; and his aunt organized numerous benefit concerts in Annapolis and performed on piano. Russell began playing piano at age 4, and performed throughout Europe as a teenager. He won first place twice in the 16/17 year-old category in a European competition for original music composition and orchestration, and studied for one summer at the Berlin Conservatory of Music. During college, he paid tuition by serving as choir director for several churches, including Catholic, Presbyterian, and Baptist, offering broad exposure to many styles of music. While studying conducting under retired Maestro Prentis Melder, Russell developed an appreciation of orchestration and conducting. Today, the Lord has led him to Trinity Methodist Church and called him to bring people to the Lord’s altar through music. Here are a few questions people ask us. Click on each link for our response. In March, 2025, church members present and voting unanimously approved affiliating with the Association of Independent Methodists (AIM). Trinity welcomes kids of all ages, and a few families with school-aged children worship with us regularly. We have a weekly Sunday School class at 10 a.m. for older children based on the Trueway Bible Curriculum, led by experienced and background-checked teachers. We are preparing as the need arises to add care for babies-toddlers and programs for teens. We hold special events for children and families such as our Family Fun Fest, and also involve kids in the life of our church by serving as an acolyte, greeter or elsewhere. By special arrangement, we can also offer supervision during worship for those with special needs. Simply that we trust that the entire Bible was inspired by Almighty God, and is the ultimate authority for our teaching, beliefs and lives. He is an instructor in Music Theory & Composition and Music Technology at Belmont University, and has appeared, recorded and collaborated with a number of acclaimed Christian artists including Maranatha Praise Band, Derric Johnson, Leann and Carl Albrecht, Lynn DeShazo and Denyce Graves. Honoring God through music is a central part of her life. She has served several local churches as pianist/organist as well as directing choirs for adults, children and handbells. Kate Rogers accompanies our choir and congregation on harp on alternate weeks. With a degree in harp performance from the Curtis Institute of Music, Kate performed regularly at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. In Nashville, she performs for weddings and private events, as a studio musician for tv, movies and video games, and substitutes with the Nashville Symphony. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption and reconciliation. The mission of the Church is highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5. As those who have been reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are now ambassadors of reconciliation to a lost and broken world. We plead, urge, implore, reason, pray, serve, preach, teach and gather to see God glorified through reconciliation. At Tradition, this mission is best displayed in our communities, where we daily have the chance of living out the Gospel to those around us. Tradition's story is as unique as each of our own. The beautiful thing about Tradition's story is that God's grace and love are so deeply woven into the fibers of who we are that any success or prosperity we've experienced is a direct result of God's favor. We believe that all things exist and are being worked according to the triune God’s passion, pleasure and plan (Ephesians 1:11), which is the demonstration of His own intrinsic glory. We echo Christ’s call to everyone, and partner with others doing Christian ministry. Join us as we work together with the Holy Spirit within the body of Christ. "We care about our members, especially when someone can't be here with us. We try to make them feel like they're part of the group." We support members and neighbors near Trinity Methodist Church, especially those who are elderly, sick, disabled, or homebound. We focus our volunteer Prayer Sentinels ministry on preemptive prayer for the ministries of our congregation, for national and local leaders, for brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, and for specific needs within the extended Trinity church family. What does that mean? #### TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH Our history reflects the faith, work and perseverance of our founders and all those who came after them. Trinity Church began with the founding of Mount Zion church nearby in the 1840s in eastern Williamson County. After the U.S. Army demolished it during the Civil War, members bought our current site in 1865 and began construction, even making bricks on site for the two-story building. The building was almost destroyed by a tornado in 1897, and again in 1909. The stained-glass windows donated in 1916 have seen many changes, most recently our decision to affiliate with the Association of Independent Methodists in 2025. Through celebrations and setbacks, the Trinity Methodist Church family and our historic facility continue to serve by God’s grace and power. In March, 2025, church members present and voting unanimously approved affiliating with the Association of Independent Methodists (AIM). You can learn more about AIM on their website, www.AIM2020.com. We participate in ministry outreach with other AIM congregations. Trinity welcomes kids of all ages, and a few families with school-aged children worship with us regularly. We have a weekly Sunday School class at 10 a.m. for older children based on the Trueway Bible Curriculum, led by experienced and background-checked teachers. We are preparing as the need arises to add care for babies-toddlers and programs for teens. We hold special events for children and families such as our Family Fun Fest, and also involve kids in the life of our church by serving as an acolyte, greeter or elsewhere. By special arrangement, we can also offer supervision during worship for those with special needs. Simply that we trust that the entire Bible was inspired by Almighty God, and is the ultimate authority for our teaching, beliefs and lives. A gift of ten percent of our income, or a "tithe", is what God asks of His people. (Malachi 3: 10) Paul told the early church at Corinth that they should give based on what they have, whether a little or a lot, toward the relief of fellow Christians affected by famine and poverty, and that they would be blessed based on their intent, not on the size of the gift. (2 Corinthians 8: 12) We offer online giving as a convenience for those who want it. Of course, you are welcome to bring your gift in cash or check form directly to the church.
